Sahara Project

An Outreach Service across the city:

Sahara has continued to provide a range of Outreach Services to Asian Elders across the city. This service is particularly aimed at those Asian Elders who are vulnerable, isolated, frail, have a disability, live alone or who are unable to visit us at Sahara due to their levels of depression or mental ill health.

Home Visiting Service

Elders are given the opportunity to receive support at home at times of particular difficulty or due to ill health/disability
Staff are able to provide regular support, help, advice and assistance to its elderly service users.
Through this we are able to produce levels of isolation, loneliness, distress and depression.
This service is continuing to demonstrate a significant improvement in the emotional well being of elders who were supported in their own homes.

Accompanying Service Users to external agencies

Sahara recognises and values the importance of working in collaboration with service providers and across all sectors in the city. In order to ensure that the service users receive the highest quality and choice of services most appropriate for the individual Sahara plays a key role in not only referring Asian Elders to external agencies, but also provides support in accompanying individuals to agencies to ensure a more effective relationship is established.

Community drop-in surgeries

Sahara is committed to providing community based drop in surgeries at a range of venues across the city. This is particularly aimed at increase access for those elders who may not otherwise be aware of the support and help available to then through Sahara.
